Activities

The Blob

This is where the action takes place during the summer at LBCR.  Our blob is 35 ft. long and provides a wet and wild experience for kids and adults of all ages.  Whether you're jumping from the platform to launch a fellow camper or reaching for the sky, everyone has a blast.  Lifeguards must always be present to use The Blob.

The Pool
LBCR's pool is one of our campers' favorite places to hang out during free time.  Have fun playing volleyball or water basketball or stay cool while relaxing near the waterfall.

Fire Circle

In a natural setting overlooking the lake, the fire circle is a wonderful spot for communing with nature by day.  At night, the fire crackles and roars.  Perfect for roasting hot dogs or S'mores or keeping warm during the cool autumn and winter months.

Canoe Cove

Canoe Cove is a small inlet on Lake Brownwood that provides a great place for canoeing and kayaking.  Six canoes and three kayaks are available for our guests' use or you may bring your own.

The dock is also a great spot for fishing, relaxing by the lake or catching an incredible sunsets.  The privacy of the cove provides a quiet location for devotionals, meditation or reflection.

Abilene Canteen & Outfitters

Come cool off with a fountain drink, snow cone or ice cream bar at the LBCR camp store.  Hungry?  We've got dill pickles, candy bars, chips, crackers and lots of other great snacks to calm your tummy.

To remember your visit to LBCR, be sure to pick up a t-shirt, cap, stuffed animal, bag or one of our many souveniers.  We also have a selection of essential toiletries in case you find you've left your toothbrush, soap or other necessity at home.

Ropes Challenge Course

Our challenge course consists of both ground-level challenges, or elements which are called low ropes as well as aerial elements - tall poles, platforms, zip-lines, rock climbing wall and trapeze-like contraptions known as high ropes. Course elements are intended to create certain outcomes, such as improving a group's cooperation skills, but they also work to stretch a person's limits-emotionally, physically and mentally.

LBCR's challenge-course training promotes, "challenge by choice," where participants must choose freely to participate in the course elements instead of being forced into it but must also accept they can do a little more than they think.

After each challenge the group reflects on what they've learned before moving on to the next element. Afterward, in a "debriefing" session, the group is led by the facilitator, where the group decides how they are going to apply what they've learned, how it reflects Christ and how it can be used in daily life.
